for Backup The PowerTower for Backup is Gaia’s most standard
unit, and it provides the reliability, ease of installation and affordability
that makes it the best solution in backup power protection. The
unit can be sized to provide from 2.5kW to 16.5kW of continuous power with as
much energy storage as needed in order to power circuits through any power event.
Larger systems for larger businesses are also available. All Backup
units arrive ready to accept the grid as well as any future alternative power
sources such as solar cells, and all Backup units accept power input from generators
of any size, making it easy to charge the batteries for outages of several days
or more. The PowerTower for Backup is compatible with a wide range
of electrical service, from 60A to 300A+ and can be configured for either 120V
or 240V output. Three-phase power models are also available.
PowerTower for Alternative Power
Sources As primary and supplementary power alternatives
to the electric grid proliferate, Gaia’s PowerTower for Alternative Power Sources
provides automatic backup power and power quality enhancement to any alternative
power source, including solar cells, fuel cells, wind turbines, and generators.
The unit comes with all balance-of-system components and can be installed
by any licensed electrician. Two DC and one AC power inputs are standard, and
the control module automatically reconciles and synchronizes power to deliver
it to the needed circuits. The unit can be delivered partially
or fully assembled and all components are fully tested in all configurations.
Measurement and monitoring capability is also standard on all APS units,
and the units can be monitored and controlled individually or in aggregate.
Custom PowerTower
Gaia has designed its line of standard PowerTower products so that any configuration
can be produced to fit your exact need. So whether you need a unit
as small as 2.5kW, a system bigger than 100kW, or you’re looking for genset control
and three-phase output, a PowerTower can be designed and built to your specifications.
Applications
As the electricity transmission
and distribution network struggles to keep up with demand and with weather-related
events always around the corner, power blackouts and brownouts are becoming more
frequent. Residential
Unfortunately, the only solution for this problem to date for the residential
markets has been a generator. And while generators can have their ideal applications,
they are a blunt tool and do not fit every backup power scenario.
As a solution to this problem, Gaia has developed the battery-based PowerTower™
for Backup. Designed for use
in residential properties big and small, for both stand-alone and high-rise buildings,
the unit installs easily in any convenient location, and operates quietly with
no emissions. In the event of a blackout, the unit automatically and instantly
provides high quality power to the circuits that need it. A standard
unit provides enough power to get through 95% of all outages; for extraordinarily
long outages, a small portable generator can be plugged in to easily charge the
unit. At the same time that the PowerTower provides backup power
at the ready, it also enables any future build out of alternative power sources
that may take place, such as the addition of solar panels or stationary generators
So whether it is used
in a primary or secondary residence, at individual houses, or for the common area
of a managed property, the PowerTower for Backup provides an ideal backup power
solution. Small
Businesses According to a major electrical system manufacturer,
there are more than 6 million small businesses in the U.S. 80%
of small businesses experienced at least one power outage in the last year. Of
those, 29% were without power for at least 8 hours and 19% were without power
for at least 16 hours during a single outage. 62% had no backup power system 58%
would consider buying a standby power system if it made economic sense. Furthermore,
those businesses that do have backup generators or UPS systems find that their
backup generators and UPS systems do not provide them with all of the backup power
they need. Whether it's refrigeration systems, communication relays or
pneumatic networks, critical circuits are often missed when planning for backup
power. Unfortunately, reconfiguring the circuits for generators is expensive and
most UPS systems focus on computers. For those circuits that slip through
the cracks, Gaia Power Technologies has developed a battery-based backup
power unit that installs easily, delivers high-quality power, and can even pay
for itself by delivering savings on monthly electric bills. Additionally,
the Gaia PowerTower can serve those businesses that rent their property and are
not in a position to install their own generator. Whether in a stand-alone building
or a high-rise, the PowerTower can easily go with you should you move.

Technology Gaia Power Technologies focuses on addressing deficiencies
in the current power landscape by utilizing applications of energy storage. Gaia's
business model is based on a clear understanding of how to manage energy storage
and the components that make it viable (such as inverters). Gaia’s core
technological platform supports products that address a range of inefficiently
or insufficiently served power markets. Ranging from pure backup power to backup
hybrid systems, these energy management systems are, in every sense, turn-key,
modular, and scalable, and they incorporate the best-of-breed in existing technology.
The MSPS Approach Gaia’s core, patent-pending technology establishes
a Modular Stationary Power Supply
(MSPS). The MSPS efficiently and pragmatically integrates all balance-of-system
components on a single platform and in a single unit. The result is that energy
storage, power electronics, communication and control are all seamlessly integrated
into a single turn-key, pre-assembled, and fully tested unit. This
approach results in a tremendously
flexible unit that: Requires no energy storage expertise by the end purchaser.
Fits the exact scale both in continuous power and energy storage required by the
customer. Installs easily Enhances existing power sources Integrates any future
power sources Enables truly distributed generation Operates individually or in
a network of multiple units, locally or remotely Remains entirely energy storage
technology agnostic In the end, MSPS allows for the benefits of energy storage
to be directly applied to problems that can benefit from it. The
MSPS Difference
For individual residences or businesses, Gaia’s products can provide backup
power, lower electric bills, and enable the deployment of alternative power sources.
There are also clear benefits to Gaia’s approach for the entire electrical system.
Gaia’s product line enables a distributed power network and addresses the
needs of an entire segment of electrical consumers who to date have been overlooked:
small to mid-sized businesses, and tenants within buildings. Additionally,
not only do the PowerTower units themselves provide stability and efficiency for
the grid, they also enable the practical deployment of a wide variety of power
source alternatives, from lightweight, inexpensive generators to solar cells and
fuel cells. The net environmental impact of both of these benefits is tremendous.
Like many technological shifts, the change that is taking place in the electrical
infrastructure is happening on an individual level; it is composed of many local
steps that add up, in the end, to a giant leap forward. Gaia’s MSPS core technology
is stretching those steps and lengthening that leap.
